I 've read lots of books on writing, some good, a few bad, and on occasion, I find one that is great. When I find a great one ( andI don't mean Wayne Gretsky), I consider it a "go to" book. That being, a book I will return to again and again and always find something new.
Writing Tools: 50 Essential Strategies for Every Writer by Roy Peter Clark is one of those books.
Writing Tools contains 50 brief lessons, each followed by a short workshop. Do one a week for a year-long writing class! You can read it in any order, searching for answers to whatever question that might be plaguing you.
My favorite part is the Writing Tools Quick List located at the end of the book.
I highly recommend this one.
